FANTASMA
In 1993 Simon visited
Brazil for the first time to see and experience capoeira.
During his stay he attended regular classes with Master Gato,
three weekend meetings and visited other classes in Rio, with
the assistance of Gato. Amongst the classes were those of
Marrom, a highly regarded student of the group senzala who
had started to research and follow the capoeira angola traditions.
Simon has always lived in the UK and has visited Brazil six
times including the first trip back in ’93. In 1997
Simon decided to follow the capoeira angola style and has
since become part of Marrom capoeira and alunos group through
familiarity rather then affiliation. Simon’s teachings
have been regular in the evening classes in shoreditch, and
have also included regular classes in Haggerston girl’s
school, Eton Collage, Hackney Summer University and now Project
gems classes for children.
In support of the regular students and classes Simon has promoted
many master classes, workshops and annual international meetings.
